Azure, a bookbinder's plough Or.
The Archaelogy of Medieval Bookbinding by J.A. Szirmai (1999 England, Ashgate), p. 197-198:
"The binder's plough, a novel device for edge trimming, is based on a sounder principle: it can be compared with cutting the edges of a pile of leaves, tightly held under a ruler, with repeated strokes of the knife taking away a few snippets at a time. In the binder's plough, the knife is fixed at the bottom of one of two wooden blocks, connected with a wooden screw by which their distance can be altered (Figure 9.15[a])." (see images #1 and #2)
Bookbinding, Its Background and Technique by Edith Diehl (1946 United States, Rhinehart & Company, Inc), p. 160-163 describes using the bookbinder's plough (see images #3 and #4).
