Ranulf: Ranulf de Glanville English politician and legal scholar Also known as Ranulf de Glanvil Ranulf de Glanvill Born Stratford St. Andrew, England Died October 1190? Acre, Palestine Ranulf de Glanville, Glanville also spelled Glanvil, or Glanvill (born , Stratford St. Andrew, Suffolk, Eng.--died October?, 1190, Acre, Palestine), justiciar or chief minister of England (1180-89) under King Henry II who was the reputed author of the first authoritative text on the common law, Tractatus de legibus et consuetudinibus regni Angliae (c. 1188; "Treatise on the Laws and Customs of the Kingdom of England"). This work greatly extended the scope of the common law at the expense of canon law and local law, and in English legal history the period is known as the Age of Glanville. The actual author of the Tractatus, however, may have been either of two later justiciars: Hubert Walter (also archbishop of Canterbury and Glanville's nephew) or Geoffrey Fitzpeter.
Aversia: Aversa, town and episcopal see, Campania region, southern Italy, in the fertile Campanian plain north of Naples. Founded in 1030 by the Normans, who made it the capital of the first Norman county in Italy, it became a centre of culture, noted for its grammar schools, and a diocese of the Holy See. It became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1860. Notable landmarks include the 11th-century cathedral and the Norman castle, both rebuilt in the 18th century. The composer Domenico Cimarosa was born at Aversa in 1749.
The submitter also included the following additional information regarding the name pattern:
William and his brothers Drogo and Humphrey responded (c. 1035) to an appeal for reinforcements in Italy by the Norman Rainulf of Aversa. He fought under Byzantine command against the Arabs (1038-40), and he earned his sobriquet "Iron Arm" during the Norman-Byzantine siege of Muslim-occupied Syracuse (Sicily) when he charged and killed the emir of the city.
7: Rivka bat David -Resub Device
OSCAR finds the name on the Gleann Abhann LoI of January 23, 2016 as submitted.
Argent, a tierce azure and a peacock close proper, in chief a Star of David azure.
Rivka bat David, returned in Kingdom, Gleann Abhann GA iLOI dated 2015-12-15. http://oscar.sca.org/kingdom/kingloi.php?kingdom=20&loi=3631
Previously submitted as Argent, a tierce azure and a peacock close, azure and purpure proper, in chief a Star of David azure. It was pointed out that while azure and purpure could not be considered proper, it was possible to allow it to be pavonated to these colors; however, the colors were not strong enough to show well. The submitter originally wanted a peacock proper and it was colored differently from her original intent, and has therefore resubmitted this as a peacock proper.
