Late-period English surnames may be used as given names.

"beehyrde" is an occupational byname using a term for a beekeeper dated to 1475.

[MED] https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/middle-english-dictionary/dictionary/MED3831

The original submission, "Eryl of Gildenwick", was returned on the June 2022 LoAR due to the similarity of the given name to the title "Earl". The use of an occupational byname instead of a locative removes the appearance of a title (SENA PN4B1). http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2022/06/22-06lar.html#Lochac_returns14

Gavriil

Given name; masculine Russianization of Gabriel, found from the 14th century onwards.

Listed in A Dictionary of Period Russian Names by Paul Wickenden of Thanet

https://heraldry.sca.org/names/paul/g.html - no photocopy source

Slotkovich

A Dictionary of Period Russian Names gives <Slotko> as a masculine given name.

http://heraldry.sca.org/names/paul/si.html - no photocopy source

Per the 'Grammar' section of the same source, when forming patronymic bynames: "If the father's given name ended in "-a" or "-ia," the basic patronymic ending is "-in" or "-yn," respectively (with the "a" or "ia" dropping out). Otherwise, the patronymic ended in an "-ov" or "-ev." http://heraldry.sca.org/names/paul/zgrammar.html

This gives the patronymic <Slotkov> from the given <Slotko>.

The source gives a patronymic variation of <Slotkov> in the form of <Slotkovskii> (the patronymic <Slotkov> with the addition of the masculine possessive suffix <-skii>), dated 1611-2.

Bynames ending in <-vich> are formed by adding: "an "-ich" to the basic patronymic construction... in most cases, with the exception of given names that end in "-av" (in which case, the "ov" used in construction #1 drops out to ease pronunciation)."

Using this construction, the patronymic byname <Slotkov> becomes <Slotkovich>.

Old Item: Margarete Clare Engelhardtz, to be released.

Engelhardt can be found from the list German Names from Nürnberg, 1497 here:

https://heraldry.sca.org/names/german/nurnberg1497.html

When I completed my initial submission for Margarete Clare Engelhardt - the heralds decided it should have a z at the end to make it feminine - I am happy for this to continue to be the case or to remove the z.
