Æthelmearc ILoI dated 2017-02-09

Greetings unto the Æthelmearc College of Heralds from Elen, Cornelian, for Melodia, Garnet and Madoc, incipient Garnet! This is Æ 190.

1: Alrekr Bergsson -Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in February of 2012, via Æthelmearc.

Per saltire gules and sable, in pale two wolf's heads erased and in fess two sheaves of arrows Or

Herald of Record: Elsbeth Anne Roth

This device was returned by Laurel in January 2016 for redraw based on inadequately erased wolf's heads, citing the November 2001 cover letter: "Therefore, for purposes of recreating period armorial style for erasing, the erasing should (1) have between three and eight jags; (2) have jags that are approximately one-sixth to one-third the total height of the charge being erased; and (3) have jags that are not straight but rather are wavy or curved."

We believe this submission addresses that problem.

2: Arsalan Zigürtei -New Name

No major changes.
Sound (see Spelling) most important.
Language (see Spelling) most important.
Meaning most important.
Spelling (prefers the Turkish Arsalan to the Mongol Arslan) most important.

Herald of Record: self

Arsalan is an Arabic variant of the common Mongol Arslan (found in Baras-aghur Naran's "On the Documentation and Construction of Period Mongolian Names", http://heraldry.sca.org/names/mongol.html) which the submitter located for us in Islamic Piety in Medieval Syria by Daniella Talmon-Heller, referencing a Shaykh Arsalan. Per SENA Appendix C, we are permitted to combine Arabic and Mongolian elements.

Zigürtei is a Mongolian name element meaning "winged" per Ferdinand D. Lessing's Mongolian-English Dictionary, p. 1053; the meaning can be confirmed per this database (http://starling.rinet.ru/cgi-bin/query.cgi?basename=dataaltmonget&root=config&morpho=0 -- search for "wing" under "meaning").

Baras-aghur Naran gives <name element> + <name element> as a legitimate structure in the previously registered article.

Herald of Record: Eleanore Godwin

Previous submission, (Fieldless) On a roundel azure a sun Or, a heron volant sable, returned because we do not register charged roundels as fieldless badges. Submitter's intent was to register a badge that would be displayed on a roundel; thus, it was suggested the submitter resubmit this particular badge to achieve the same effect.

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in April of 2016, via Æthelmearc.

Argent, estencelé sable, an ash tree proper issuant from a mountain sable
