Unto the Outlands College of Heralds, our respected friends and colleagues who give freely of their time to provide commentary, and all others who come by these letters, on this 19th day of October, A.S. LIII (2018 CE), does the Honorable Lord Gauvain Eisenbein send greetings on behalf of His Excellency Timothy O'Brien, White Stag Principal Herald.

Here follows the Kingdom of the Outlands' Letter of Presentation for October, 2018. This Letter contains all complete submissions received by Castle Herald between September 2 and October 1.

Anyone may comment upon the items found herein, and e-mail commentary to the herald's commentary list is encouraged. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Please have comments on items contained herein to Rampart Herald by November 25th, 2018. The online Rampart meeting for November was cancelled. As a reminder, the College of Arms requests commentary on all items, including appeals.

Submissions heralds are strongly urged to review the guidelines at: "http://rampart.outlandsheralds.org/#castle_instructions", as items not meeting these guidelines will be pended. Pended items will be administratively returned after they have appeared on three Letters of Presentation.

1: Damien Wolfhunte -New Name

No major changes.
Spelling (13th to 14th century English or English and French) most important.

[Damien] - Damien is a masculine Middle French name found in the Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources Dated to 1572 - http://dmnes.org/cite/Damien/1572/RegPCC-1

[Wolfhunte] - Wolfhunte is an English byname found in R&W, sn Wolfhunt. Walter le Wolfhunte, 1339. Per SENA, unmarked bynames in English are fine. Academy of Saint Gabriel Report 756 - Wolfhunte

Per SENA Appendix C, combining French and English names in the middle and late Period is fine. These elements are less than 300 years apart, also fine per SENA.

2: Florie Edde of Braemar -New Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in April of 2016, via the Outlands.

Argent, a cinquefoil gules with petals and center separated, a lozenge having inward curving sides between each petal sable, and in base four bars wavy alternating azure and argent

Patronymic surname.

Ragnvaldr is found as a masculine given name in "The Old Norse Name" on p. 14, and the surname is formed following the rules presented in the same.

Per pale of eight sable and argent, a werewolf rampant vert

Volgrin, Given name from 1107 of Archbishop Volgrin. Page 807 The History of Civilization: From the Fall of the Roman Empire to the French Revolution, Guizot (M., François)

Zsoldos, Byname meaning soldier or mercenary, from Engel Pál: Kamarahaszna-összeírások 1427-ból (Akadémiai kiadó, Budapest: 1989), A collection of Tax documents from 1427 in Budapest. Found in a list of individuals from Gomor County.

Both names come from the SENA German group between 1100 and 1600.
