Vaillant is a French surname found in French Surnames from Paris, 1421, 1423 and 1438" by Aryanhwy merch Catmael. The name submitted dates to 1438.

Some commenters raised issues with the emblazon as drawn, as it blurred the lines between sejant and statant. Orle has kindly provided a redraw which has been approved by the submitter.
