Letter of Intent
Kingdom of Atenveldt
Unto Emma Laurel, Elisabetta Pelican, Iago Wreath and the commenting Members of the College of Arms,
Greetings from Marta as tu Mika-Mysliwy, Brickbat Herald and Parhelium Herald for the Kingdom of Atenveldt!
The Atenveldt College of Heralds requests the consideration and registration of the following armory with the College of Arms. Unless specifically stated, the client will accept any spelling and grammar corrections; all assistance is appreciated.
![]() ![]() ![]() 1: Keterlin die Fledermaus - New Name (NP) & New Device Per chevron Or and vert, a reremouse and in chief two cornices sable. Keterlin: German feminine given name dated to 1441 found as a form of Ka[e]therlin in "German Names from Rottweil, Baden-Württemberg, 1441," Aryanhwy ferch Catmael (https://www.ellipsis.cx/~liana/names/german/rottwe...). Elements of the surname can be constructed from Fleder: German surname found in familysearch.org records: Joannes Finckh married Thorotheam Fleder, Female, 30 Jan 1640, Gundelsheim, Neckarsulm, Württemberg, Deutschland (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JHFW-Y43). and Maus: German surname om familysearch.org records: Joannis Petri Maus, Christening,19 Oct 1644, St. Ignaz, Mainz, Hessen, Germany (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:C4TP-JPPZ). (Or simply as Bat: German surname In familysearch.org:Petter Bat Father Caspar Bat, Marriage. 1606 Hochhausen, Mosbach, Baden, Deutschland (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N8VN-TQP ).) Simplest of all is the submitted descriptive of the client, die Fledermaus, German for "bat." The client would like reremouse as the blazon for the primary charge. Mistholme's Pic Dic shows a cornice as a permitted charge; however, it seems that that cornice is actually a "frame," with the interior the tincture of the field it lies upon. If "the entire charge" (frame + interior) cannot be the same tincture and blazoned as a cornice, as is the case here, the client wishes to use quatrefoils instead. |
