Palimpsest Rules Letter dated 2023-06-04
This letter proposes adding standard letter swaps (such as i/y in English) to SENA Appendix A. While presented as a single table to be added to the beginning of the appendix, we would appreciate comments on whether it would be better in that location or to have the swaps listed under the relevant languages throughout the appendix.
1: SENA - Appendix A - Letter Swaps - New Rule Change OSCAR is unable to find the name, either registered or submitted. This list is not meant to be exhaustive of all possible letter changes. It lists the ones that I could find in precedent and commentary. If you are aware of other common swaps, especially in languages other than English, please note them in the comments with supporting evidence. As mentioned in the header, while this is presented as a single table to be added to the beginning of Appendix A, Pelican would appreciate commentary on whether that option or listing the swaps under the relative languages throughout the appendix is more useful. OSCAR cannot hand tables. For those that find looking at the table easier please see image 1. The data is in four columns: language, letter combinations, notes, and reference. If the reference is FIXME, it will be updated to the CL where this proposal is accepted. The notes in italics will not be included in the SENA update. Proposed text: In many languages, we have evidence of the use of letters interchangeably. Citing an entry in the table below is sufficient documentation for such a swap. For combinations not listed below, documentation must be provided to support a swap. Language: Anglicized Irish
