This submission is to be associated with Populace and Standard Augmentation

This badge, previously submitted as, Sable, a pile voided Or (see image 1), was returned on the Jan 2003 LoAR for conflict:

Conflict with the March of Grimfells, Sable, on a pile throughout Or a spiderweb throughout sable charged with a laurel wreath vert, and with Oyn Cefnog, Sable, on a pile throughout Or three pheons two and one gules. This badge is equivalent to Sable, on a pile Or a pile sable. Therefore, versus either Grimfells or Oyn Cefnog, there is only a single CD for cumulative changes to the group of charges on the pile by RfS X.4.j.

This design (the one originally intended) removes the conflict with Grimfells (1st DC for removal of tertiary spiderweb, and 2nd DC for removal of quaternary laurel wreath).

While the conflict with Oyn Cefnog remains, a PtC for that conflict has been obtained:

I, (mundane name redacted), known in the SCA as Oyn Cefnog, give Artemesia, Kingdom of, known in the SCA as Kingdom of Artemesia permission for their proposed populace badge "Sable, a pile throughout Or" (to look similar to, but not identical to, my armory, "Sable, on a pile throughout Or three pheons two and one gules". I understand that this permission cannot be withdrawn once the Kingdom of Artemesia's armory is registered.

In kingdom, it was noted that the blazon of the submitted item in this PtC does not exactly match the submitted emblazon. That being said, the blazon written by the owner of the registered arms is closer to his arms than the submitted item. So, we argue that he has given more permission than necessary, rather than less. Additionally, the owner has been very gracious. He no longer plays SCA and said he would be happy to release his arms, in order to allow Artemisia's registration. Both Artemisian heralds and heralds in the owner's home kingdom of Meridies hope that we do not have to bother him by asking for anything more than he has already given.

Another conflict, Gules, a pile Or (Adelindis filia Gotefridi, Oct 2004 via Lochac), also exists. Fortunately, Adelindis has provided a blanket letter of permission to conflict:

I, (mundane name redacted), known in the SCA as Adelindis filia Gotefridi, waive the full protection of my registered armory "Gules, a pile Or". I grant permission to any future submitter to register armory that is not identical to my registered armory.

I understand that this permission can be withdrawn by written notice to the Laurel Sovereign of Arms, but that conflicting items registered while it is in force will remain registered.

The previous iteration of this sub (image 1) was returned on the Jan 2022 LoAR with the following statements:

This device is returned for conflict with the device of Gwen Seis, Or, three willow-herb blossoms purpure. Per long-standing precedent reaffirmed in December 2018, "There is no DC for slipping, leaving the only difference to be gleaned from the type of flower." Meanwhile, these irises -- showing petals to chief as well as to base -- are effectively affronty, but per the March 2020 Cover Letter, discussing difference between flower types, "There is no difference for type between few-petaled flowers affronty". As such, no DCs exist between this device and that of Gwen Seis.

On resubmission, ensure the flowers -- particularly their blossoms -- are large enough to identify by type.

The previous iteration of this sub (image 1) was returned on the Jan 2022 LoAR with the following statements:

This augmentation is returned per SENA A3A3 because the base arms, Or, three irises purpure slipped and leaved vert, are returned elsewhere on this letter.

On resubmission, ensure the gouttes meet the standards set in the March 2013 Cover Letter. As stated in that Cover Letter, in period heraldry the vast majority of gouttes were drawn with quite distinct wavy tails but teardrop shaped gouttes are registerable as long as they are elongated, more than twice as long as they are wide. The gouttes here do not fit any of these registerable depictions.

This augmentation was redrawn at kingdom to match the redraw of the base arms in item 7 (see image 2). The submitter has seen and aproves this change.
