9: Sol Rosa, Canton of -New Name (NP)
Sol is a ME toponym meaning 'pond'. The MED, s.v. sol has it in locative bynames, and in place names as a prototheme and deuterotheme. Examples: Rammesole, Solefeld, Blakesal, Salom, etc.
Rosa is a 14th C ME feminine given name (found, for example, in the MED, s.v. salter and wever). Matronyms are a pattern found in England (App. A), so we can make it a byname. (It's an inherited surname in FS by the gray period.)
The pattern of generic toponym + family name is found in Juliana de Luna, "Compound Placenames in English" (http://medievalscotland.org/jes/EnglishCompoundPlacenames).
