9: Gaius Aurelianus Felix -New Name (NP) & New Device
Sable, two dragon's heads conjoined, respectant, and issuant from base azure.
Submitter desires a masculine name.
No changes. Client requests authenticity for 5th Century Romanized Briton.
Submitter is from Glyn Dwfn.
Submitter provided written documentation which I have attempted to summarise here:
Gaius (praenomen): found in The Prosopography of the Later Roman Empire: A.D. 395-527, (Arnold Hugh Martin Jones, John Robert Martindale, and J. Morris; New York: Cambridge University Press, 1980), pages 115, 490.
Aurelianus (nomen): found in De excidio et conquestu britanniae (Gildas), in reference to Ambrosius Aurelianus (On the Ruin of Britain (De Excidio Britanniae) trans. J.A. Giles, https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1949/pg1949.html - section II.25)
Felix (cognomen): also found in The Prosopography of the Later Roman Empire: A.D. 395-527, pages 458-465.
Submitter refers to the Notitia Dignitatum, a survey of military offices and units of the Roman army in the early 5th centry, for documentation for both the charge and the choice of tinctures; I will do my best to summarise:
The two-headed Roman dragon appears 11 times throughout the Notitia; the specific drawing the submitter would like to replicate is on page 134 of the copy of the Notitia held by the Bodleian library.
The azure charge on sable field violates Core Practice contrast rules, but examples in the Notitia include azure on sable, 7 occurrences; sable on azure, 3 occurrences; other miscellaneous colour-on-colour examples, not specified. Submitter remarks that various copies of the Notitia bear only minor variations in tincture from each other and are therefore likely faithful copies of the original, meaning that this style of low-contrast armory is period for late antiquity.

This submitter desires to use the Persian form without the macrons: Yasmin.
