Calontir LoI dated 2023-09-05

Wesaþ hal!

To Emma Laurel, Elisabetta Pelican, Iago Wreath and the commenting Members of the College of Arms comes this missive from Dorcas Whitecap, Acting Saker. I seek your counsel on the following submissions, with the intent that they may be registered.

1: Corbyn Greyschanke - New Name (KLoI) (NP) & New Device (KLoI)

Quarterly azure and argent, two crows respectant sable, each charged with a heart argent

Submitter desires a masculine name.
Meaning (meaning gray leg) most important.
Spelling (Corbyn) most important.

Corbyn - late period English surname used as given name. Found in "Index of Names in the 1582 Subsidy Roll of London: Surnames of English men & women" by Sara L. Uckelman (known in the SCA as Aryanhwy merch Catmael) https://www.ellipsis.cx/~liana/names/english/engsu...

Greyschanke - English byname meaning "grey shanks", dated to 1279 in R&W (s.n. Graybeard)

A question about the appearance of marshalling was raised in internal commentary, because of the tertiary charges on each crow. Discussion in the Internal Decision meeting suggested that the crows being respectant indicated that they were part of a primary charge group that crossed the line of division, thus removing the appearance of marshalling, regardless of any tertiary charge group. We conclude that this is a call for Wreath.
