Middle LoI dated 2023-07-24

Greetings unto Emma Laurel, Elisabetta Pelican, Iago Wreath, and the other honored members of the College of Arms, greetings from Kallinikos Gavras, Rouge Scarpe Herald for the Kingdom of the Middle.

Many thanks to the commenting heralds who provided additional documentation!

It is the intent of the Middle Kingdom that the following be registered.

1: Buckmaster Thomas - Resub Name (KLoI) (NP)

Submitter desires a masculine name.
The following changes are allowed: Adding elements needed to avoid presumption issues
Sound most important.

Buckmaster - Surnames in Chesham 1538-1600/1

http://medievalscotland.org/kmo/Chesham

Per precedent, surnames can be used as given names in late period English.

Thomas - Familysearch

Davyd Thomas; 02 Jan 1581; Saint Giles, Cripplegate, Lodon, Engliand; M02243-1

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NJ54-TXN

Name was returned on the 06-2016 LoAR due to being submitted on the wrong form.

During previous commentary, concern was raised whether the name was presumptive, due to the "master" element. SENA PN4.B.1 states: "Bynames which are identical to titles used in the Society are generally not allowed for individuals who do not have that rank. Relatively minor changes to the form of the byname can remove the appearance of a claim to rank." Adding the "Buck-" element should be enough to clear the presumption. If this IS an issue, the submitter is willing to accept the name "Thomas of Buckmaster", since according to R&W the name is a corruption of the locative Buckminster.

2: Léonne de Fresne - New Name (KLoI) (NP)

Submitter desires a feminine name.
No major changes.
Language/Culture (French) most important.
Meaning most important.

Both elements of this submission were documented from Names from Lallaing 1384 - 1600, by Domhnall na Moicheirghe. https://heraldry.sca.org/names/lallaing_names.html

Leonne is a French feminine given name dated to 1587 in the data.

de Fresne is a French locative byname dated to 1476 in the data.

3: Maximilian von Fallingbostel - New Augmentation of Arms Change (KLoI)

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in August of 1991, via the Middle.
