Gleann Abhann GA iLOI dated 2019-09-09

Greetings all good heralds, from Judith Wilkinson, Diamond Principal Herald. Thank you for your advice and skills and service to others. We are looking for feedback on these revisions to award names for our kingdom, as the names we currently use for them do not conform to period practices.

1: Gleann Abhann, Kingdom of -Resub Order Name

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in December of 2006, via Gleann Abhann.

Order of Francois Cross

This Order recognizes those individuals who exemplify courtesy and chivalric behavior as well as maintaining an exceptional historical representation by their appearance which sets a high standard for others to emulate. Originally submitted as the Order of Francois Favor, it was returned in the Mar 2019 LOAR.

In the return, it was stated "Additionally, Order of Francois X, without an apostrophe on the given name, would be registerable (barring conflicts) where X is a period item or artifact that is or reasonably could be used as a heraldic charge."

This follows the pattern Order of Francois + heraldic charge.

Francois - Francois is dated to 1581 in DMNES s.v. Francis, as the name of a Walloon from Canterbury, England (http://dmnes.org/cite/Francois/1581/RWC; G. Grim, R. Le Get, J. Uckelman, S.L. Uckelman. "Francis". In S.L. Uckelman, ed. The Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources, Edition 2018, no. 1. http://dmnes.org/2018/1/name/Francis)

Cross - "Medieval heralds were familiar with roughly twenty types of cross, according to Brault [Coat of Arms, I(90), Summer 74, pp.54-64]" http://mistholme.com/dictionary/cross/
