Device Notes from Kingdom:
Clear from Order of the Portcullis of Endeweard Per chevron Or and sable, in base a portcullis, an orle argent. 1 DC for field, another probable DC for primary charge position as not forced on neutral field. Probably DC (or even SC) between portcullis and door considering Cf. https://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2008/02/08-02lar.html a.n. Gerhart von Altenberg:

there is a CD between a portcullis and a strike as both charges are period charges and there is no evidence that they were considered interchangeable by period heralds. We also note that the chains that are part of a properly drawn heraldic portcullis provide a visual difference between a portcullis and a strike.

Further, http://mistholme.com/dictionary/door/ declares that a door is also a period charge. Being solid, it is even more visually distinct from a portcullis than is a strike, the latter being "a matrix of tin or pewter nodules of equal weight, fastened by thin strips and attached to a handle for easy carrying", viewable at https://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=145&id=5138.
