Northshield LoI dated 2018-03-31

Greetings unto Juliana Laurel, Alys Pellican, Cormac Wreath, and the various members of the College of Arms, greetings from HL Iohannes Glenfidanus, Polaris Herald, and his deputy Mira Fastova, Keythong Herald of Northshield.

What follows is the March 2018 Letter of Intent for the Kingdom of Northshield. We are requesting registration for these items.

We would like to thank all of the heralds, from within Kingdom and without, who contributed comments on OSCAR for the Northshield February Internal Letter of Intent. I am particularly grateful for the contributions of Michael Gerard Curtememoire, Konrad Mailander, Gawain of Miskbridge, ffride wlffsdotter, Basil Dragonstrike, Magnus von Lübeck, Iago ab Adam, Kolosvari Arpadne Julia, Seraphina Delphino, Etienne Le Mons, Conrad von Zollern and Christian Jorgensen af Hilsonger. 4: Eyfriðr Matheusdóttir - New Name & New Device

Eyfriðr is a Norse feminine given name found on the Viking Answer Lady website at (http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/ONWomensNames.shtml#e)

"For the first element Ey- see above (Eybjorg). For the second element -fríðr see above (Áfríðr). A short-form of names in Fríð-, -fríðr is Fríða."

Eybjorg - "The first element Ey- (or before a vowel, Eyj-) is of uncertain origin but may derive from *auja, "fortune, gift." The Cleasby-Vigfusson dictionary states that while the second element -ey may be related to the word for island, from Primitive Scandinavian *awió, when it appears as the first element Ey- or Eyj- then the word comes from a different root."

Áfríðr - "The second element -fríðr is from the OW.Norse adjective fríðr "beautiful" in the original sense of "beloved" and related to the OW.Norse verb frjá "to love". This name is found in Old Swedish as Afridh. Runic forms include the nominative forms afiriþ, afriþ, afriþ, af×riþ, (a)friþr, ifriþ, ifriþr and the accusative form afriþi. A short form of names in Fríð-, -fríðr is Fríða."

Matheusdóttir is a Norse patronymic constructed of <Matheus> found in Geirr Bassi page 13 with -dóttir.

1. Kingdom commentors suggested that the charges should be made larger. In making that change, the submitter changed the direction of the coney to contourny.

2. There was some discussion regarding the treatment of the pale and how to blazon it.

3. A question regarding whether this submission has a unified arrangement rules problem was offered.
