o Norwood - myself

o Norham - Sir Steven of Norham

o Norhiem

•!• Personal and House names using "-wolf (Adj.- wolf)

o Gerewolf- Lord Michael Gerewolf

o House Blackwolf -

•!• Military House names (name - unit)(in an attempt to establish most

military units have Name - designator)

Also, here is possible additional documentation, courtesy of the SCA heraldry chat FB group:

House of Nor Wolf

The March 2013 Cover letter says

(http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2013/03/13-03cl.html#4):

"English household names are often derived from personal names. As with other household patterns in English, the pattern is... House of X.... Household names derived from people's names in English take a couple of forms. The most common household name uses the individual's full name, like þe hous of Julyane huxster...."

Hence, the constructed personal name "Nor Wolf"

<Elizabethe Nor> christened 1572, England. Batch no. C14859-1

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NKXR-LYY

<Nicholas Wolf> christened 1561, England. Batch no. M86694-7

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NJHH-3ZV

The September 2012 LoAR cover letter says "In general, family names documented in sixteenth century England may be used to create given names, even if they are of Scottish or Gaelic origin."

The previous submissions, Hus Vanagandr and joint badge Sable, on a pale argent in pale a wolf's head erased sable and a sword fesswise gules, were returned on the December 2015 LoAR (http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2015/12/15-12lar.html#Outlands_returns57) with the following: {Submitted as Hus Vanagandral, the name was changed in kingdom with the submitter's approval to Hus Vanagandr to match the documentation that could be found.

No evidence was provided that a Norse house or household could be named after a monster and a legendary river. We also note the clear association with the mythological wolf Fenrir, who uses the appellation Vánagandr ("monster of hope river"). Without evidence to show that a household could be named after a specific mythological animal, we cannot register this household name.

As documented in the Letter of Intent, the only pattern found for Hus ("house") is [person's given name in the possessive form] + Hus. In resubmission, the submitter should show that the designator is appropriate for the submission.

This badge is returned for having two tertiary groups on the same charge. As depicted, the sword has significantly less visual weight than the wolf's head which gives the appearance of it being a distinct tertiary group.

On resubmission, please advise the submitter to draw the erasing with longer jags.}
