Old Item: Alditha de la Tye, to be retained as an alternate name.
Submitter desires a feminine name.

Ádísa: Viking Answer Lady: Old Norse Women's Names: (http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/ONWomensNames.shtml); Name: Ádís, Ádísa; Notes: The etymology of the first element Á- is uncertain, as it may come from several possible origins: < *ana-, the intensive first element, "all"; < *anu- "ancestor, forefather"; or from < *az- "point, edge" or "anxiety, fear". For the second element -dís see above. A weak side-form exists, Ádísa. Found in Old Swedish as Adis. Ádís is found in Swedish runic inscriptions as aþis, while the runic form of the weak side form is found in Ostergotland, Sweden as ntisa. Source: NR s.v. Ádís, Ádísa

íkorni: A Concise Dictionary of Old Icelandic, Geir T. Zoëga: Main Page: (http://lexicon.ff.cuni.cz/texts/oi_zoega_about.html) png 230: (http://lexicon.ff.cuni.cz/png/oi_zoega/b0230.png) Entry reads: Íkorni, m. squirrel

Ádísa; Although there is a question mark next to the name, in the past submitters have been given the benefit of the doubt about such names. eg. October 2015 LoAR sn. Borgunna Varsdottir (http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2015/10/15-10lar.html#146)

Lind Personbinamn col. 177 sn. íkorni; <Brynilda ikorna kona> from Aslak Bolts jordebog, so ca. 1432-1433. In this example íkorni is in the genitive case. SENA Appendix D says they will register both the documentary forms of Norse names, as well as the normalised forms.

From A Simple Guide to Imperial Roman Names by Ursula Georges: http://heraldry.sca.org/names/roman.html

Marcus: listed under Men's praenomen in A Simple Guide to Imperial Roman Names by Ursula Georges: http://heraldry.sca.org/names/roman.html

Annius: listed under Men's nomen in A Simple Guide to Imperial Roman Names by Ursula Georges: http://heraldry.sca.org/names/roman.html

Corbulo: Encyclopedia Brittanica entry for Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo (died AD 67): http://www.britannica.com/biography/Gnaeus-Domitius-Corbulo

The depiction of the Roman goddess Minerva used in the armory submission comes from the article "Gods and Goddesses: the Immortals depicted on Roman oil lamps". (https://followinghadrian.com/2013/06/10/gods-and-goddesses-the-immortals-depicted-on-roman-oil-lamps /) Kingdom changed the blazon from <Per chevron vert and sable, the Roman goddess Minerva Or> to a descriptive blazon, provided by Green Anchor, over concerns of reproducing <the Roman goddess Minerva>.

The emblazon was changed by Kingdom, with the submitter's full permission, as the original emblazon's chevron was a bit too low (https://oscar.sca.org/emblazons/Outlands/2016-04/marcus-c.jpg).

6: Minamoto Shizuka - New Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in June of 2015, via the Outlands.

This item was on the 08-2016 LoAR

7: Muirenn ingen Uí Thaidc - New Device

OSCAR finds the name on the Outlands LoI of April 29, 2016 as submitted.

Azure, a chevron inverted and in chief a cat's face argent

The emblazon was changed by Kingdom, with the submitter's permission, to have more feline-like detailing as internal commentors thought the original emblazon (http://oscar.sca.org/emblazons/Outlands/2016-04/muirenn-c.jpg) looked very canine-like.

Thus ends the May 2016 Letter of Intent.

In Service,

THL Khalidah bint Yahya'a

Rampart Herald
