Unto the Outlands College of Heralds, our respected friends and colleagues who give freely of their time to provide commentary, and all others who come by these letters, on this 11th day of December, A.S. XLIX (2014 CE), does Lord Gauvain Eisenbein send greetings on behalf of Baron Randal Carrick, White Stag Principal Herald.

Here follows the Kingdom of the Outlands' Letter of Presentation for December 2014.

For all resubmissions (names *AND* devices), please include where the previous submission was returned. This makes it dramatically easier to give the submitter credit for the previous submission. As always, I am requesting a text copy of all name write-ups.

Anyone may comment upon the items found herein, and e-mail commentary to the herald's commentary list is encouraged. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Please have comments on items contained herein to Rampart Herald by January 20th, 2015, for the decision meeting scheduled for January 21st, 2014. As a reminder, the College of Arms requests commentary on all items, including appeals.

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in July of 2014, via the Outlands

Gules, a dragon rampant Or within a crescent argent

The previous submission, Gules, between the horns of a crescent argent a dragon sejant affronty wings displayed Or, and in chief three mullets argent, was returned on the the July LoAR (http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2014/07/14-07lar.html#Outlands_returns16) with the following: {This device is returned for violating SENA A3E1, Arrangement of Charge Groups. This arrangement, a charge within a charge and in chief a charge group, is not listed in SENA Appendix J, and so may not be registered without documentation that this is a period arrangement of charge groups.}

2: Bernalldino Antan Peryra -Resub Device

OSCAR is unable to find the name, either registered or submitted.

Per pale azure and argent, a fess dovetailed and counterchanged

The previous submission, Azure, three chevronels braced and a chief dovetailed argent, was returned on the July 2014 LoAR (http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2014/07/14-07lar.html#Outlands_returns16) with the following: { This device is returned for conflicts with the badge of Odile Davignon, reblazoned elsewhere on this letter Azure, three chevronels braced and in chief a lotus blossom in profile argent, and the device of Francesco Giovanni Raffaello da Venezia, Azure, three chevronels braced and in base a gondola argent. In each case, there is a single DC for changing the type of secondary charge.

Please advise the submitter to draw the chevronels higher on the field. They should be centered on the space between the bottom of the chief and the bottom of the field.}

3: Caelainn McGrigour -New Name

Submitter has no desire as to gender.
No major changes.
Sound most important.
Spelling most important.

[Caelainn] - early gaelic given name. from: Acadamy of Saint Gabriel Report number 2208. Appropriate for an irish woman living between 1100 and 1600. Early variant of <Ca/elfind>. http://www.panix.com/~gabriel/public-bin/showfinal.cgi?2208+0.

[McGrigour] - Scottish surname. From: `ACADEMY OF SAINT GABRIEL REPORT 1145' (http://www.s-gabriel.org/1145). The name <MacGregor> comes from the Gaelic <MacGriogair>. The McGrigour spelling was found in Scotland in 1586. From `ACADEMY OF SAINT GABRIEL REPORT 1397' (http://www.s-gabriel.org/1397): <MacGregor> is a modern English spelling of the Gaelic Patronymic<mac Griogair>. McGrigour spelling is found in 1586 and `ACADEMY OF SAINT GABRIEL REPORT 3188' (http://www.s-gabriel.org/3188) which again says that the McGrigour spelling is found in 1586. Submitter is the wife of Argyle McGrigour, whose name appeared on the 01/2014 LOAR, so the submitter would prefer same spelling if possible.
