Laurel LoI dated 2015-02-02

Unto the College of Arms does the Laurel Office send greetings! It is the intent of the Laurel office to register the following submissions on behalf of the Board of Directors.

Laurel has received the following direction from the Board: "By consensus, the Board hereby permits Laurel Sovereign of Arms to waive the College of Arms Administrative Handbook section VIII.A, Scheduling Submissions. The commentary period for this letter will close March 31st, and a decision meeting will then be held and results will be released in a supplemental LoAR."

2: Society for Creative Anachronism - New Order Name & New Regalia

OSCAR is unable to find the name, either registered or submitted.

Order of Defence

(Tinctureless) Three rapiers in pall inverted tips crossed

This order name follows the pattern of naming Orders after their founders or patrons. The May 2011 LoAR states that:

"[a] given name can be used to create an order name (one named after a founder or inspiration)." [Order of Taillefer, 5/2011 LoAR, A-Lochac].

<Defence> is a 16th century English surname, which can be used as a given name by precedent. [Sept. 2012 Cover Letter]. It is found in the Family Search Historical Records:

Elizabeth Defence; Female; Burial; 06 Jul 1593; St. Botolph Aldgate, London, England; Batch: B02101-6 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRXT-5YK)

Therefore, Order of Defence follows the pattern of naming an Order after its founder or patron.

The owner of (Fieldless) Three rapiers in pall inverted tips crossed Or has submitted a release for that badge, appearing on this same letter.

Being that most regalia for peerages currently registered are protected as tinctureless, we will register this submission as tinctureless. All other prohibitions on tinctureless armory continue to apply.
