Outlands Kingdom ILoI dated 2012-08-08

Outlands College of Heralds

August 8, 2012 From the Office of the Castle Herald

Sayyidah Khalidah bint Yahya'a

castle@outlandsheralds.org

Unto the Outlands College of Heralds, our respected friends and colleagues who give freely of their time to provide commentary, and all others who come by these letters, on this 8th day of August, A.S. XLVII (2012 CE), does Sayyidah Khalidah bint Yahya'a send greetings on behalf of Mistress Fiachra ni Ciardhubhain, White Stag Principal Herald.It would assist Castle Herald greatly in the future if you would e-mail a copy of the documentation summary for name submissions along with the paper copies. It saves having to re-type everything again. Also, please be sure that you include dates of registration and return for armory for previously registered names and resubmissions of any kind. If Castle can't find where an item was returned, it may be pended until the information is provided or payment is made for a new submission.

Here follows the Kingdom of the Outlands' Letter of Presentation for August 2012. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Errors found herein are my sole responsibility. Anyone may comment upon the items found herein, and e-mail commentary to the herald's commentary list is encouraged. Please have comments on items contained herein to Rampart Herald by September 15, 2012, for the decision meeting tentatively scheduled for September 19, 2012. As a reminder, the College of Arms requests commentary on all items, including appeals.

1: Alamanda de la Roca -Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in July of 2010, via the Outlands

Per chevron azure and argent two mullets of eight points argent and a salamander rampant sable enflamed proper

Submitter's previous device, Per chevron azure and argent, three mullets of eight point one and two argent and a salamander rampant sable, was returned on the April 2012 LoR (http://rampart.outlandsheralds.org/2012-03-lop/1204-lor.html) with the following:

{Return for re-draw. This device is not on the standard shield shape from the approved forms, so it makes it hard to tell, but the line of division is way too low on the field. (Using the guides on the standard form, the chevron should have as much of the point above the horizontal marks as it has below at the sides). Further, the mullets are too small to really be considered co-primary. Finally, the charge at the bottom was not readily identified as a salamander, being described as the Geico Gecko or a ferret. If this is to be a heraldic salamander it needs flames. If it is to be a natural salamander it needs to either be tergiant or drawn very carefully, with appropriate detailing, in order to allow the viewer to distinguish it from a weasel or ferret.}

The device was redrawn and the salamander properly flamed.

2: Dieterich Löwenstern -Resub Name

Submitter desires a masculine name.
Culture (Northern Germanic) most important.

Submitter's previous name, Djurig von Aukring, was returned on the October 2011 LoR (http://rampart.outlandsheralds.org/2011-09-lop/1110-lor.html) with the following:

{This name is RETURNED for lack of documentation. No documentation was submitted with this submission, and commenters were unable to find anything close to this name construction beyond the article "von". Without examples of Djurig and Aukring used as names prior to 1600, including dated spellings of the name, this must be returned.}
