Outlands Kingdom ILoI dated 2012-05-14

Outlands College of Heralds

May 11, 2012 From the Office of the Castle Herald

Sayyidah Khalidah bint Yahya'a

castle@outlandsheralds.org

Unto the Outlands College of Heralds, our respected friends and colleagues who give freely of their time to provide commentary, and all others who come by these letters, on this 11th day of May, A.S. XLVII (2012 CE), does Sayyidah Khalidah bint Yahya'a send greetings on behalf of Sheik Omar Mohammud Mirzazadeh, White Stag Principal Herald.

It would assist Castle Herald greatly in the future if you would e-mail a copy of the documentation summary for name submissions along with the paper copies. It saves having to re-type everything again. Also, please be sure that you include dates of registration and return for armory for previously registered names and resubmissions of any kind. If Castle can't find where an item was returned, it may be pended until the information is provided or payment is made for a new submission.

Here follows the Kingdom of the Outlands Letter of Presentation for May 2012. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Errors found herein are my sole responsibility. Anyone may comment upon the items found herein, and e-mail commentary to the herald's commentary list is encouraged. Please have comments on items contained herein to Rampart Herald by June 15, 2012, for the decision meeting tentatively scheduled for June 20, 2012. As a reminder, the College of Arms requests commentary on all items, including appeals.

1: Anzelm Kowalski -New Device Change

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in December of 2010, via the Outlands

Argent, three flamingos proper, on a chief azure a greyhound courant contourny argent

Old Item: Gules, a key palewise, wards to sinister base Or, on a chief argent a greyhound courant contourny sable, to be released.

2: Ceara MacElea -Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in October of 2010, via the Outlands

Vert, an estoile within an orle of ivy argent

The submitter's original submission, Vert an estoile within an orle of ivy argent, was returned on the July 2010 LoR (http://rampart.outlandsheralds.org/2010-06-lop/1007-lor.html) stating the following:

{RETURNED for identifiability. Commenters noted that the lobes of the estoil were not clearly wavy, and appeared more like a sexfoil than an estoil. Further, the orle is clearly not ivy (Ivy has conventionally been drawn with leaves of three or five lobes, rather like the picture of English ivy at http://outandin.wordpress.com/2009/01/27/climbing-up/) and in fact appears to be Laurel leaves. Given the conflict between the submitted blazon and the emblazon, we return the device for a re-draw to clarify submitter's intent.}

The submitter desires an estoile and ivy, and has redrawn the device to be more identifiable.

{This device is RETURNED for complexity issues. As drawn, the topmost charge is not a compass rose (lacking the fleur-de-lis indicating north). Also, given the relative sizes of the charges, we must find that the primary charge group consists of the compass star within and conjoined to an annulet, an estoc, and a paintbrush. this violates the rule that three or more charges should not be used in the same charge group (RFS VIII.1.a). Finally, the design borders on the overall complexity limit of 8 tinctures/charges, currently having 4 of each. Submitter is encouraged to simplify the design for resubmission.}

Thus ends the May 2012 Letter of Presentation.

In Service,

Sayyidah Khalidah bint Yahya'a

Castle Herald
