5: Thornwold, Shire of -New Badge

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in April of 2016, via An Tir.

(Fieldless) A demi-hare maintaining a thorn branch sable.

This submission is to be associated with Populace badge

Submitter is, in fact, the Shire of Thornwold.

A note signed by the Shire Seneschal is included on the form:

I (redacted) known in the SCA as Ursula von Freiburg, current Seneschal of the Shire of Thornwold, both endorse and allow the submission of this badge for our Shire as blazoned above. Thank you for your assistance and consideration in this matter. (signature) 9/13/2023

I believe this satisfies Principality & Kingdom procedures for a badge submission by a Shire but will confirm as this makes it's way through submission - Vemundr.

Vert, in saltire a hammer argent hafted proper and an arrow Or, a chief embattled ermine.

Spelling (First name Thyra) most important.

Submitter is from Hartwood.

Preference would be for the name to be Old Norse but submitter wishes the fist name Thyra (highest priority) and would like the patronymic Svensdottir. She will accept Sveinsdottir if it must be changed, otherwise the following documents the name to 15th C Scandinavia.

Thyra: feminine given name, found in Gunner Knudsen, Danmarks gamle Personnavne, Vol 1 column 1445, dated 1404.

https://diplomatarium.dk/dokument/14360205001 "...og Thyra, enke efter lægmanden Jens Jansen, som Johannes Meynesti..." (trans. widow of the layman Jens Jansen)

-dottir is a standard patronymic construction in mulitple Scandinavian languages per SENA App A.

7: Yrsa Ketilsdottir -New Badge

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in May of 2005, via An Tir.

(Fieldless) A hippo argent spotted of diverse colours.

Submitter is from Seagirt.

Submitter and their consulting herald are aware that "spotted of diverse colours" is currently limited to heraldic panthers but submitter is willing to take on the test case to get herself a Pride Hippo.

The assistance of the dedicated armorial-trawling heralds of the Known World is requested to see if we have any evidence of "spotted of diverse colours" showing up on anything other than heraldic panthers.
