Atenveldt LoI dated 2023-05-30

ATENVELDT COLLEGE OF HERALDS

30 May 2023, A.S. LVIII

Letter of Intent

Kingdom of Atenveldt

Unto Emma Laurel, Elisabetta Pelican, Iago Wreath and the commenting Members of the College of Arms,

Greetings from Marta as tu Mika-Mysliwy, Brickbat Herald and Parhelium Herald for the Kingdom of Atenveldt!

The Atenveldt College of Heralds requests the consideration and registration of the following armory with the College of Arms. Unless specifically stated, the client will accept any spelling and grammar corrections; all assistance is appreciated.

1: Ionatán Fáelán Luchaireán - New Name (NP) & New Device

Argent, an acorn sprig proper leaved vert, on a bordure purpure a semy of squirrels statant Or.

No major changes.
The following changes are allowed: spelling corrections and articles are allowed.
Client requests authenticity.
Sound most important.
Language/Culture most important.

Ionatán: Irish cognate of Nathan/Jonathan, found in "Behind the Name" website. The client knows that a more correct, period form of the name is needed.

Fáelán: Irish Gaelic masculine given name, found throughout period fo rOld Irish Gaelic and Middle Irish Gaelic, 700 through 1200 ("Index of Names in Irish Annals: Fáelán / Faolán," Mari Elspeth nic Bryan, http://medievalscotland.org/kmo/AnnalsIndex/Masculine/...). In this arrangement, this is the patronymic and would appear as mac Fáeláin.

Loughra is the client's mundane middle name Loughran. This is said to be a period form of the name; however, both forms appear to be post-period (appearing in the 19th and 20th C. in familysearch.org). www.ancestry.com states that this is an Anglicized form of the clan name Luchaireán In this arrangement, it would appear as Ó Luchaireáin (https://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?...),as a descendant of Luchaireán. When presented to the client, he was interested in using this period form of the clan name rather than the originally-submitted Loughra. I think we're managed to cobble together a completely Irish Gaelic form of the name.

He has mentioned that he would prefer not using Ó or mac at all if possible, but he understands if there is precedent for including these elements in a traditional Irish name, to retain them in the name.

Correction to Name (2023-Jul-09 19:07:59): Because the name submitted was incorrectly formed for an Irish Gaelic name, the client decided to keep the submission moving by associating it with a Holding

Name at this time.

Sean</B?> is the client's legal given name.

Atenveldt is his kingdom of residence; the branch-name of the kingdom was registered at some point.

Correction to Name (2023-Jul-09 19:07:39):

Correction to Device (2023-Jul-09 19:07:37): The device should be registered to the Holding Name Sean of Atenveldt This holding name was approved by the client 28 June 2023.

2: Orabilis Douw - New Release of Name (NP)

The client wishes to release her registered badge, Per fess embattled sable and vert, three death's heads and a castle argent.

Correction to Name (2023-May-31 14:05:53): This is a release of (one of) the registered client's badges, not her name.

There is 1 new name and 1 new device in this letter. Laurel should receive $ 8.00 for these submissions.

I remain,

Marta as tu Mika-Mysliwy, Parhelium Herald
