2: Jón Bjarnarson - Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in March of 2015, via Atlantia.

Per chevron argent and azure, three sheaves of arrows vert and a bear's head caboshed argent

Consulting Herald: Etienne Sea Stag

Submission History:

This is a resubmission after the March 2017 Laurel return of "Argent semy of arrows bendwise inverted vert, a bear sejant erect guardant sable maintaining a cauldron vert.":

"This device is returned for a redraw. Commentators found identifying the primary charge difficult, given the overlap with the arrows and the cauldron. The submitter is encouraged to draw fewer arrows, and to more clearly separate the cauldron from the body of the bear, preferably by extending the arms to dexter; please note that this will cause the claws to point to dexter, rather than towards the viewer."

This submission is a complete redesign.

3: Kaete MacDavid - New Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in March of 2015, via Atlantia.

Purpure, a spider and on a chief invected or three domestic cat heads caboshed purpure

Submitted under the name "Kaete MacDonald," which is not registered, we have changed the name on the submission form to reflect the name actually registered to the submitter.

Correction to Device (2018-Mar-27 06:03:28): While this is not a redraw, nor even a recolor, the image does differ; we used the original digital submission form in order to have the purpure look purpure, rather than trying to re-scan the printed version(where it appeared navy blue).

Order of the Golden Ladle

Per chevron azure and vert, two ladles in saltire overall, Or

Naming Pattern: [Order] [color] [heraldic object]
This order name follows the pattern of [color] + [heraldic charge] found in "Medieval Secular Order Names" by Juliana de Luna (http://heraldry.sca.org/laurel/names/order/new/)

The spelling <Golden> can be found as early as 1375, according to the MED (http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/m/mec/med-idx?type=byte&byte=68144837&egdisplay=open&egs=68149552) which cites the following usage, "He golden apples rafte of the dragoun."

<Ladle> is found in the canting arms (from dial. Italian cazùu, "ladle") of de Cazullis de Crema, mid-15th C. [Triv 98], and of de Cazaviis, c. 1550 [BSB Cod. Icon 270:283]. From http://mistholme.com/?s=spoon

The following additional documentation was provided by Metron Ariston during commentary:

...the Middle English Dictionary...gives several quotes unambiguously showing this term in this spelling dated to about 1475 (Recipe Painting(2) in Archaeol.J.1 (Sln 73) :: T. Wright, "Early English Artistical Receipts," Archaeol. J. 1 (1844). 152-55):

"Ley that pot asid..and make under fire, and evere among stere it..with a ladle."

"Put it in a pot of erthe, and ley that pot asid as thu wost, and make under fire, and evere among stere it as thu wost with a ladle."

"Put it in a pot of erthe..and make under fire, and evere among stere it as thu wost with a ladle, and so alwey make fire therunder till thou se that thi leed be as fyne of colour as thou wilt have."
