"The submitter may be interested to know that, based on additional research done at the Pelican decision meeting, the spelling Lorette de Chasteauneuf is authentic for the 16th century. If the submitter would prefer that form, she may make a request for reconsideration."

3: Ovius Decumius Vitalis -New Name & New Device

Purpure, two tridents in saltire Or.

Language most important.

Name Consulting herald: Rowyn Arden the Bard

Follows the naming pattern of Praenomen + Nomen + Cognomen found in "A Simple Guide to Imperial Roman Names" by Ursula Georges.

All three names found in "A Simple Guide to Imperial Roman Names"

http://heraldry.sca.org/names/roman.html

Ovius. The preanomen (literally, "before name") was chosen from a short list of options and was often abbreviated.

Decumius. The nomen or nomen gentilicium was the family or clan name. (Nomen means "name"). It plays the role of a modern surname: a Roman citizen inherited his nomen from his father's family. Many nomina end in -ius.

Vitalis. Cogonomen means "byname". A cognomen could be inherited, or could be a personal nickname. Some men used two or more cognomina.

Device Consulting herald: Rowyn Arden the Bard

OSCAR counts 1 Name, 1 Request for Name Reconsideration Change, 1 Device and 1 Badge. There are a total of 4 items submitted on this letter.
