2: Danuta Jankowna - New Name

Danuta Słownik staropolskich nazw osobowych" by Witold Taszycki vol 1., p. 458, sn. Danuta has: "Anna alias Danuta ducissa, consorte Ianussii, Masoviae ducis." (written 1455-1480, dealing with events in 1361)

Jankowna Micha Sajewicz. 2015. "Formy imienne z sufiksem -ko w Kleszczelach na Podlasiu w po owie XVI w." Acta Baltico Slavica (39); 45-89 Is analysing at a document from 1560 in Kleszczele, which before 1569 was a part of Lithuania, for examples of names with the diminutive siffix -ko. p. 64, sn. Jan, 4 instances of Janko, and 1 of Ianko. As per SENA Appendix A, Polish-language bynames include the feminine, unmarried suffix -ówna, hence the name Jankowna. SENA Appendix C allows the mixing of Baltic, and Polish languages. Iankovaia Wickenden 2nd ed., sn. Ian (http://heraldry.sca.org/names/paul/h-j.html) Ianko (Novgorod merchant). Before 1417. Iankovich (Liubovka "Iankovich," serf). 1563. Wickenden's grammar section notes: "Most often found in women's names (and more rarely in men's), these types of names indicate the literal owner of the subject. They are formed by taking the type #1 patronymic and adding the feminine suffix -skaia (or masculine -skii) or sometimes simply -aia/-ii (without the sk-).... When this form is found in men's names, it is almost exclusively in Western Russia and in late period." Note that when Wickenden uses the phrase "Western Russian," he is translating the Russian term "западнорусский язык" into English, while the (often) preferred term by Lithuanian scholars is "Ruthenian." SENA Appendix C allows the mixing of Baltic, and East Slavic languages. per ffride

this is a Lithuanian name recorded in Polish

The OED sn. Duke notes that the title "Duke" was sometimes in period spelled "duck" citing "Thys yere sir Edmonde Langle and sir Thomas Wodstoke ware made duckes." (1556). We believe this usage is presumptive and ask Pellican for confirmation.

Since the given name is an Egyptian Greek hybrid we are unsure of status of the given name and we would expect the "sat ne" formation pattern to include many more years to make the hybrid name issue irrelevant and ask assistance in providing documentation for the sat ne formation closer to 200AD
