Herald of Record: Aindreas MacGuille

Previous device (Argent, a martlet displayed, a chief enarched ermine) was returned at kingdom for conflict with:

Francesca of Bright Angel (device registered January 1973: Azure, a dove displayed, head elevated argent. 1 DC for adding a chief. There is no DC for type as a dove and martel are both regular shaped birds.

Este, House of The (device registered December 1994 (via Laurel): Azure, an eagle displayed argent crowned Or. Also the arms of Modena (Important non-SCA arms.) 1 DC for adding the chief. No DC for removing the crown. Since the use of martlet displayed is a SFPP, there isn't a DC between the type of birds.

Adding a tertiary charge group to the chief clears both conflicts.

Use of a non eagle displayed is a step from period practice.

Will this require an IAP for the color-on-color?

Correction to Device (2017-Apr-20 08:04:49): If this will require an IAP for the black demi-sun on the red field, we should let the client know sooner rather than later, as I believe the requirements for an IAP in this case will be difficult to pull together. Finding examples of migrant or volant to chief examples in German heraldry may be more difficult than finding examples of black-on-red issuing from the line of division.

5: Valgerðr inn rosti -Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in December of 2015, via Æthelmearc.

Argent, three sheep passant to sinister sable, each charged with an elder Futhark F argent, a border gules.

Herald of Record: Cormacc Mac Gilla Brigde

The previous submission (sable, a chevron gules fimbriated between a sword fesswise and a bear salient argent) was returned by Laurel on the 2016-04-16 LoAR:

This device is returned for violating SENA A3D2c, Unity of Posture and Orientation, which states "The charges within a charge group should be in either identical postures/orientations or an arrangement that includes posture/orientation". Because they lie on either side of the chevron, the sword and bear are considered to be in the same secondary charge group. However, the charges here are not in a unified arrangement, as the fesswise orientation of the sword must be described independently from the default orientation of the bear.

This is a complete redesign.

As always, the Garnet office welcomes all commentary and any assistance in correcting or adjusting submissions prior to going external.
