West LoI dated 2017-01-13

Unto Master Andrewe Bawldwyn, Laurel; Mistress Alys Mackyntoich, Pelican; Dame Brunissende Dragonette, Wreath; and the various members of the College of Arms, greetings from Viscountess Krysta of Starfall, Green Crown Pursuivant of the Kingdom of the West!

These items were returned for redrawing by Laurel/Wreath. The redrawn submissions address the concerns raised by commenters when the submissions were initially considered.

This item was on the 04-2017 LoAR

1: Bersi Eðvarðarson - Resub Device Change

OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in August of 2016, via the West.

Per saltire azure and argent, a bear couchant contourny sable

Old Item: , to be released.

The August 2016 LoAR stated, "This device is returned for redraw, for violating SENA A2C2 which states "Elements must be drawn to be identifiable." Commenters had trouble identifying the sable creature, generally confusing it with a sheep or cat. The submitter is encouraged to look at the image of a bear in the Pictorial Dictionary of Heraldry for assistance in drawing the head so that it appears more bear-like."

The bear has been redrawn, and now has some white internal detailing. We feel the commenter's concerns have been addressed.

2: Ellisif Gyðadottir - Resub Device

OSCAR finds the name on the West LoI of July 15, 2016 as submitted.

Per chevron gules and azure, a simurgh rising to sinister wings displayed argent

In the October 2016 LoAR, Wreath stated "This device is returned for a redraw, for violating the guidelines set forth on the May 2011 Cover Letter for a properly drawn per chevron field division; the field division here is too low. Please see that Cover Letter for further discussion and details of how to properly draw per chevron lines of division."

We believe this depiction of per chevron meets the requirements of the May 2011 Cover Letter. There is a step from period practice for the use of a simurgh.

Respectfully submitted,

Krysta of Starfall, Green Crown
