1: Amena Ellara - New Name
Submitter desires a feminine name.
No major changes.
Sound (ah-me-nah eh-lar-ah) most important.
Amena - <Amena Margretha Von Lanssberg> christened 1632, Cologne, Germany. Batch no. C96953-1
Ellara - Surname found in "England births and Christenings, 1538-1975" via FamilySearch.org. (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NTMK-Z97). Cited name "Robart Ellara" dates to 18 December 1595; citing Kendal, Westmoreland, England, Batch Number C00311-7
*****Submitted as Amina, the documentaon was from the I batch of IGI which is not an acceptable batch. Commenters found Amena, which supports the submitter's desire sound as well as an allowance from the February 2015 LoAR Cover letter that says: "...we will allow the borrowing of given names from German into English and vice versa, in the context of the 16th and early 17th centuries."(http://heraldry.sca.org/loar/2015/02/15-02cl.html)
2: Gwenhwyfar verch Rhys - Resub Device
OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in February of 2016, via Meridies.
Vert, a Lacy knot Or within a mascle argent.
Previous submission, Vert, within a mascle argent a Lacy knot Or, was returned by Laurel in April, 2016.
Must be returned for further work. Given the relative visual weights and importance of the two charges, the mascle is the primary charge and we have reblazoned accordingly. Thus, this device conflicts with the badge of Martelle von Charlottenburg and Eric von Charlottenburg: Vert, a mascle argent within a bordure Or. There is only one DC for changing the type of secondary charge.
*****Commenters question if this device could get a second DC from Matthew Law of Aberdeen The following device associated with this name was registered in June of 1999 (via the East): Vert, a double-bitted axe argent, a Bourchier knot interlaced about the shaft Or. http://www.aeheralds.net/rolls/index.php?page=individual&id=547by using a change of position rule http://heraldry.sca.org/sena.html#A5G6. Where Matthew's device the knot is low and part of the ax being "interlace"; this device they are separate and within one another
3: Hextilda MacRae - Resub Device
OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in June of 2016, via Meridies.
Purpure, a harpy rising guardant, wings displayed, in base a cubit arm fesswise vested argent.
The previous submission, "Purpure, a harpy rising gardant, wings displayed, in base a cubit arm fesswise vested argent" was returned by Laurel in June 2016.
Must be returned for further work. This device was returned administratively for using a modified escutcheon that does not fit the Laurel-approved form.
*****Spelling of guardant fixed
4: Iastreb Desislavich - New Badge
OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in October of 2007, via Meridies.
(Fieldless), on a mullet of eight points gules a glaive palewise Or.
This badge to be jointly owned with Mariana Cristina Tirado de Aragon.
5: Ragnarr Arngeirsson - Resub Device
OSCAR finds the name registered exactly as it appears in July of 2016, via Meridies.
Per fess azure and sable, a fess wavy argent between a drakkar and valknut Or.
The previous submission, Per fess azure and sable, a fess wavy argent between a drakkar and valknut Or, was returned by Laurel in September 2016.
Must be returned for further work.
This device is returned for redraw.
A valknut was most recently defined in 2006:
For purposes of SCA heraldry, a valknut is three voided triangles interlaced. The triangles in the submitted emblazon are not voided, nor are they really interlaced. The triangles are fracted (broken) in various places and the "voiding" is a thin line, abstract design on a non-identifiable underlying charge. This is also sufficient grounds for return. [Feb 2006 - Rauþúlfr inn Orþstóri]
On resubmission, please advise the submitter to add a few waves on the wavy fess.
6: Tristand Pelletiere - New Name
